Connect GrantKey with Uplisting
GrantKey is a lockout backup for short-term rentals. When a guest's smart lock or keypad fails, they text the name on the GrantKey sign by your door. GrantKey checks their name and the time against the booking and, if they're inside their stay, tells them how to get in and alerts you.
Connecting Uplisting lets GrantKey read your bookings straight from Uplisting, so you don't copy a calendar link for each property. It also picks up the arrival and departure times on each booking. A late checkout or early check-in you set in Uplisting is honoured at the door.
Before you start
- A GrantKey account. New to GrantKey? Start at grantkey.io/uplisting. Choose Uplisting as your booking platform when you sign up, and you won't be asked for calendar links.
- An Uplisting login that can see the properties you want GrantKey to cover.
- About two minutes.
You never enter your Uplisting password in GrantKey. You sign in on Uplisting's own page, and GrantKey only receives permission to read.
Connect GrantKey with Uplisting
- Sign in to your GrantKey portal at portal.grantkey.io.
- On the Uplisting card, click Connect Uplisting.
- You'll go to Uplisting's sign-in page (hosted by AirDNA, Uplisting's parent company). Sign in with your Uplisting login and approve read access to your properties and bookings.
- You'll come back to your GrantKey portal, which shows Connected with your Uplisting account email.
If you clicked Cancel on Uplisting's page, nothing is connected. Click Connect Uplisting again whenever you're ready.

Match your properties
GrantKey needs to know which Uplisting listing goes with each GrantKey sign.
- Under Match your properties, each GrantKey property has a dropdown of your Uplisting listings.
- GrantKey suggests a match when the names line up. Check each one: suggestions aren't saved until you save them.
- Choose Not on Uplisting (use calendar link) for any property booked somewhere else, then add its calendar link on that property.
- Click Save matches.
Each Uplisting listing can be matched to one GrantKey property. A property with no match and no calendar link shows Guests can't be verified yet until you fix it.

What GrantKey reads
For matched properties only:
- Booking details: guest name, phone number, check-in and check-out dates, arrival and departure times, booking status.
- Property details: name, nickname, address and time zone, used for matching and for local times.
GrantKey reads bookings at the moment a guest texts for help. Cancelled bookings are ignored.
What GrantKey never does:
- It never changes anything in Uplisting: no edits to bookings, prices, calendars or messages.
- It never sees payment details.
- It never messages your guests through Uplisting. GrantKey only texts a guest after they text the sign by your door.
How guests are checked
Guests need to text their first and last name as it appears on the booking. A last initial is fine, and small typos are allowed. A first name on its own isn't enough.
Late checkouts and early check-ins
GrantKey uses the arrival and departure times on each booking in Uplisting. To give a guest a 1:00 PM checkout, change the departure time on that booking in Uplisting, and GrantKey follows it. If a booking has no times set, GrantKey uses that listing's standard check-in and check-out times from Uplisting (or 4:00 PM and 11:00 AM if none are set).
If Uplisting stops sharing your bookings
GrantKey checks your Uplisting connection every morning. If it ever needs reconnecting, we'll get in touch so you can click Reconnect before a guest needs help.
Disconnect
- In your GrantKey portal, open the Uplisting card and click Disconnect.
- Confirm.
GrantKey deletes its stored access to your Uplisting account straight away and stops reading your bookings. Your matched properties switch back to calendar links: any property without one can't verify guests until you reconnect or add a link.
Your matches are remembered. When you reconnect, they come back pre-filled, and you click Save matches to switch them back on.
Having a connection problem? Reconnect instead of disconnecting. It keeps everything as it is.
Troubleshooting
- "Reconnect required" on the Uplisting card. Uplisting stopped sharing your bookings with GrantKey, which usually happens after a password or permission change. Click Reconnect, sign in to Uplisting and approve access. Your matches stay as they are.
- "Uplisting didn't complete the connection." Click Connect Uplisting and try again. Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and work once, so start from the portal each time rather than reusing an old tab. If it keeps happening, email us.
- A listing is missing from the dropdown. The dropdown shows the listings in the Uplisting account you signed in with. If a listing is in a different Uplisting account, disconnect and connect with the account that has it, or email us.
- A guest wasn't recognised. Guests need to text their first and last name as it appears on the booking (a last initial is fine, and small typos are allowed). A first name on its own isn't enough. Then check that the property is matched, that the booking isn't cancelled, and the dates and arrival and departure times on the booking in Uplisting.
- A guest's phone number is missing on a booking. Some channels, Booking.com for one, no longer share guest phone numbers with property management systems. GrantKey verifies by name and booking time, so this doesn't stop a guest getting in.
Support
Email support@grantkey.io. Tell us your GrantKey business name and the property's sign name. Never send us your Uplisting password or API key; we'll never ask for them.
